The Perilipin-2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6276) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the perilipin-2 protein, which plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and storage within cells. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to perilipin-2, researchers can effectively detect and analyze this important protein in a variety of cell types.Perilipin-2, also known as adipophilin or ADRP, is involved in regulating lipid droplet formation and breakdown, making it essential for understanding processes such as lipolysis and fat storage.
Dysregulation of perilipin-2 has been linked to conditions like obesity, fatty liver disease, and metabolic disorders, highlighting its significance in human health.By utilizing the Perilipin-2 Polyclonal Antibody in their studies, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism and its implications for various metabolic diseases. This antibody is a valuable resource for investigations in areas such as obesity research, metabolic disorders, and lipid droplet biology.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the perilipin family, members of which coat intracellular lipid storage droplets. This protein is associated with the lipid globule surface membrane material, and maybe involved in development and maintenance of adipose tissue. However, it is not restricted to adipocytes as previously thought, but is found in a wide range of cultured cell lines, including fibroblasts, endothelial and epithelial cells, and tissues, such as lactating mammary gland, adrenal cortex, Sertoli and Leydig cells, and hepatocytes in alcoholic liver cirrhosis, suggesting that it may serve as a marker of lipid accumulation in diverse cell types and diseases. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
