The Mouse Anti-Mouse CD5 Antibody 53-7.3 (AGEL3377) is a vital tool for researchers studying the CD5 antigen, a cell surface glycoprotein expressed on T cells, B cells, and thymocytes that plays a key role in immune response regulation. This monoclonal antibody, specifically targeting mouse samples, is produced for applications such as flow cytometry and immunoprecipitation, allowing for precise detection and analysis of CD5 expression levels in various cell populations.CD5, a marker of T and B cell subsets, is involved in signaling pathways that modulate immune cell activation and tolerance.
Research on CD5 is invaluable for understanding pathways linked to autoimmunity, tolerance induction, and immune cell development. By targeting CD5 with the 53-7.3 Antibody, researchers can gain insights into the functions and mechanisms associated with this important antigen, contributing to advancements in immunology and potential therapeutic strategies for immune-related disorders.

Background:
CD5 is a 67 kD protein, also known as Lyt-1, Ly-1, T1, Tp67, or Ly-12. It is a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich protein superfamily (SRCR) and primarily expressed on thymocytes, T cells, and B-1 cells. Although mature α/β T cells express high levels of CD5, very few γ/δ T cells express this antigen. The interaction of CD5 with CD72, gp35-37, TCR, or BCR is involved in T and B cell activation.
