The PER1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8449) is a valuable tool for research involving the PER1 protein, a key regulator of circadian rhythms and biological clock functions. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity towards human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot experiments. By binding specifically to the PER1 protein, this antibody allows for precise detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in chronobiology and related fields.PER1, also known as Period Circadian Regulator 1, plays a crucial role in regulating the circadian clock and coordinating biological processes with the day-night cycle.
Dysregulation of PER1 has been associated with disruptions in sleep patterns, metabolism, and overall health. Research into the function and mechanisms of PER1 is essential for understanding how circadian rhythms impact various physiological processes and may lead to novel therapies for sleep disorders, metabolic diseases, and other conditions influenced by the biological clock.

This gene is a member of the Period family of genes and is expressed in a circadian pattern in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the primary circadian pacemaker in the mammalian brain. Genes in this family encode components of the circadian rhythms of locomotor activity, metabolism, and behavior. This gene is upregulated by CLOCK/ARNTL heterodimers but then represses this upregulation in a feedback loop using PER/CRY heterodimers to interact with CLOCK/ARNTL. Polymorphisms in this gene may increase the risk of getting certain cancers. Alternative splicing has been observed in this gene; however, these variants have not been fully described.
