The PE Anti-Human MPO Antibody (ABT-101007) is a powerful tool for researchers studying human myeloperoxidase (MPO), an enzyme essential for the innate immune system's antimicrobial activity. This antibody, conjugated to phycoerythrin (PE), allows for the detection and analysis of MPO in various cell types through flow cytometry and immunofluorescence applications.MPO is primarily found in neutrophils and monocytes, where it plays a crucial role in host defense by generating microbicidal reactive oxygen species. Aberrant MPO activity has been linked to various inflammatory conditions, making it a target of interest in research related to cardiovascular diseases, vasculitis, and cancer.
The PE Anti-Human MPO Antibody provides researchers with a specific and sensitive tool to explore MPO expression and regulation in both healthy and diseased states. This antibody, rigorously validated for its specificity and sensitivity to human MPO, offers researchers the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the enzyme's functions and dysregulation in disease contexts. Its versatility in flow cytometry and immunofluorescence applications makes it an invaluable asset for studies focused on immune system modulation, inflammation, and oxidative stress.

Background Information:
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heterotetrameric protein consisting of two 60 kD heavy units and two 12 kD light units. A lysosomal enzyme, MPO is able to catalyze the production of hypochlorous acid, a potent microbicidal agent, from hydrogen peroxide and chloride anion during the neutrophil respiratory burst. MPO is a major enzyme involved in the inflammatory responses of polymorphonuclear leucocytes. MPO is localized to the azurophilic granules of mature granulocytes and monocytes and is also expressed in some acute myeloid leukemia cells.
