The PE Anti-Human CD16 Antibody (3G8) from Assay Genie (www.assaygenie.com/pe-anti-human-cd16-antibody-3g8/) is a crucial tool in immunology research for detecting and analyzing the CD16 protein, a key player in immune responses. This antibody is specifically designed for use in flow cytometry applications, offering high sensitivity and specificity in identifying CD16-expressing cells in human samples.CD16, also known as FcγRIII, is a cell surface receptor involved in various immune functions, including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and phagocytosis. Its expression on natural killer (NK) cells and macrophages highlights its importance in immune surveillance and defense mechanisms against pathogens and tumor cells.
By targeting CD16 with this PE-conjugated antibody, researchers can study its role in immune cell activation and function, providing insights into immune-mediated diseases and therapeutic strategies. The PE Anti-Human CD16 Antibody (3G8) offers researchers a reliable tool for investigating CD16 expression patterns in different cell populations, facilitating in-depth analyses of immune responses and cell interactions. With its validated performance in flow cytometry, this antibody enables precise identification and characterization of CD16-positive cells, contributing to advancements in immunotherapy, cancer research, and infectious disease studies.

Background:
CD16 is a 60 kD highly glycosylated protein. It is a member of the Ig superfamily and is also known as B7-1, B7, and Ly-53. CD16 is constitutively expressed on dendritic cells and monocytes/macrophages, and inducibly expressed on activated B and T cells. The ligation of CD28 on T cells with CD16 and CD86 (B7-2) on antigen presenting cells (such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells) elicits co-stimulation of T cells resulting in enhanced cell activation, proliferation, and cytokine production. CD16 appears to be expressed later in the immune response than CD86. CD16 can also bind to CD152, also known as CTLA-4, to deliver an inhibitory signal to T cells.
