The PDHA1 Monoclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for research involving the Pyruvate Dehydrogenase E1 alpha subunit (PDHA1), an enzyme that plays a key role in cellular energy production through the process of pyruvate metabolism. The antibody, produced using hybridoma technology, is specifically targeted towards human PDHA1 samples and is validated for use in applications such as Western blot and immunohistochemistry.PDHA1 is a crucial enzyme in the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, which links glycolysis to the citric acid cycle by converting pyruvate into acetyl-CoA.
Dysregulation of PDHA1 activity has been implicated in metabolic disorders and neurological diseases, making it a focus of research in the fields of biochemistry and neurology. The PDHA1 Monoclonal Antibody enables precise detection and quantification of PDHA1 levels in various cell types and tissues, providing insights into its role in health and disease.

The pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) complex is a nuclear-encoded mitochondrial multienzyme complex that catalyzes the overall conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO(2), and provides the primary link between glycolysis and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. The PDH complex is composed of multiple copies of three enzymatic components: pyruvate dehydrogenase (E1), dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase (E2) and lipoamide dehydrogenase (E3). The E1 enzyme is a heterotetramer of two alpha and two beta subunits. This gene encodes the E1 alpha 1 subunit containing the E1 active site, and plays a key role in the function of the PDH complex. Mutations in this gene are associated with pyruvate dehydrogenase E1-alpha deficiency and X-linked Leigh syndrome. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
