The PCCB Polyclonal Antibody (CAB23599) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PCCB, a key enzyme involved in the breakdown of amino acids and fatty acids. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the PCCB protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of PCCB in various cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in biochemistry and metabolism.
PCCB plays a crucial role in the regulation of energy metabolism and is essential for maintaining cellular function and overall health. Dysregulation of PCCB has been linked to metabolic disorders and other serious health conditions, making it an important target for research in areas such as mitochondrial diseases, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes. Understanding the functions and mechanisms of PCCB is essential for developing potential treatments and interventions for these diseases.

The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the propionyl-CoA carboxylase (PCC) enzyme, which is involved in the catabolism of propionyl-CoA. PCC is a mitochondrial enzyme that probably acts as a dodecamer of six alpha subunits and six beta subunits. This gene encodes the beta subunit of PCC. Defects in this gene are a cause of propionic acidemia type II (PA-2). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
