The PANK2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18502) is a valuable tool for researchers studying PANK2, a key enzyme involved in CoA biosynthesis and regulation of cellular CoA levels. This rabbit polyclonal antibody has high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.PANK2 plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism, specifically in the biosynthesis of CoA, a coenzyme essential for numerous metabolic pathways. Dysregulation of PANK2 has been linked to neurodegenerative disorders such as pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN).
By targeting PANK2 with this antibody, researchers can investigate the role of this enzyme in disease pathology and explore potential therapeutic interventions. This antibody enables detection and analysis of PANK2 protein in various cell types, making it suitable for studies in biochemistry, neurobiology, and metabolic disorders. Understanding the function and regulation of PANK2 is essential for advancing our knowledge of metabolic pathways and developing targeted therapies for diseases associated with CoA dysfunction.

This gene encodes a protein belonging to the pantothenate kinase family and is the only member of that family to be expressed in mitochondria. Pantothenate kinase is a key regulatory enzyme in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA) in bacteria and mammalian cells. It catalyzes the first committed step in the universal biosynthetic pathway leading to CoA and is itself subject to regulation through feedback inhibition by acyl CoA species. Mutations in this gene are associated with HARP syndrome and pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), formerly Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome. Alternative splicing, involving the use of alternate first exons, results in multiple transcripts encoding different isoforms.
