The Occludin Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2601) is a valuable tool for researchers studying occludin, a key protein involved in maintaining the integrity of tight junctions in epithelial and endothelial cells. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human occludin and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunofluorescence.Occludin plays a crucial role in regulating the permeability of cell layers, which is essential for the proper functioning of biological barriers such as the blood-brain barrier and intestinal epithelium.
Dysregulation of occludin function has been implicated in various diseases, including inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, and neurological disorders.By using the Occludin Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze occludin levels in different cell types and tissues, providing valuable insights into the role of this protein in health and disease. This antibody is a valuable tool for studies investigating tight junction biology, barrier function, and potential therapeutic targets for diseases involving disrupted epithelial and endothelial barriers.

Human,Mouse,Rat
Immunogen:
Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 400-522 of human Occludin (NP_002529.1).
This gene encodes an integral membrane protein that is required for cytokine-induced regulation of the tight junction paracellular permeability barrier. Mutations in this gene are thought to be a cause of band-like calcification with simplified gyration and polymicrogyria (BLC-PMG), an autosomal recessive neurologic disorder that is also known as pseudo-TORCH syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A related pseudogene is present 1.5 Mb downstream on the q arm of chromosome 5.
