The OBFC1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16146) is a valuable tool for researchers studying OBFC1, a protein involved in telomere maintenance and DNA replication. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to OBFC1, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of OBFC1 protein levels in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies focusing on telomere biology and cancer research.OBFC1 is a key player in maintaining the stability and integrity of telomeres, structures at the ends of chromosomes that protect them from degradation and ensure proper cell division.
Dysregulation of OBFC1 expression has been linked to telomere dysfunction, which is associated with aging, cancer, and other genetic disorders. By understanding the function of OBFC1, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially develop new therapeutic strategies targeting telomere maintenance pathways.

OBFC1 and C17ORF68 (MIM 613129) are subunits of an alpha accessory factor (AAF) that stimulates the activity of DNA polymerase-alpha-primase (see MIM 176636), the enzyme that initiates DNA replication (Casteel et al., 2009 [PubMed 19119139]). OBFC1 also appears to function in a telomere-associated complex with C17ORF68 and TEN1 (C17ORF106; MIM 613130) (Miyake et al., 2009 [PubMed 19854130]).
