The OAS2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB17428) is a valuable tool for researchers studying OAS2, a protein involved in antiviral immune response mechanisms. This antibody, generated in rabbits, shows strong reactivity with human samples and is suitable for use in Western blot applications to detect OAS2 protein levels.OAS2 is part of the 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase (OAS) family, which plays a critical role in the innate immune response against viral infections. By detecting and analyzing OAS2 expression in various cell types, researchers can gain insights into how this protein contributes to antiviral defense mechanisms.
This makes the OAS2 Polyclonal Antibody an ideal tool for studies in virology, immunology, and infectious diseases research.Understanding the function and regulation of OAS2 can provide valuable insights for developing antiviral therapies and strategies to combat viral infections. By targeting OAS2 and its associated signaling pathways, researchers may uncover new approaches to enhance immune responses and combat viral diseases more effectively.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 600-700 of human OAS2 (NP_058197.2).
This gene encodes a member of the 2-5A synthetase family, essential proteins involved in the innate immune response to viral infection. The encoded protein is induced by interferons and uses adenosine triphosphate in 2'-specific nucleotidyl transfer reactions to synthesize 2',5'-oligoadenylates (2-5As). These molecules activate latent RNase L, which results in viral RNA degradation and the inhibition of viral replication. The three known members of this gene family are located in a cluster on chromosome 12. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
