Description
NRN1 Antibody (PACO14755)
The NRN1 Polyclonal Antibody (PAC014755) is a valuable tool for researchers investigating NRN1, a neurotrophic factor involved in the growth and differentiation of neurons. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the NRN1 protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of NRN1 in various cell types, making it well-suited for studies in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases.NRN1, also known as neuritin, is a critical player in neuronal development and plasticity, promoting the survival, growth, and function of neurons.
Its role in regulating synaptic plasticity and neuronal connectivity makes it a promising target for research on conditions like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders. Understanding the functions of NRN1 is essential for developing therapeutic interventions that enhance neuronal repair and regeneration in these disease contexts.

Background: | This gene encodes a member of the neuritin family, and is expressed in postmitotic-differentiating neurons of the developmental nervous system and neuronal structures associated with plasticity in the adult. The expression of this gene can be induced by neural activity and neurotrophins. The encoded protein contains a consensus cleavage signal found in glycosylphoshatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored proteins. The encoded protein promotes neurite outgrowth and arborization, suggesting its role in promoting neuritogenesis. Overexpression of the encoded protein may be associated with astrocytoma progression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. |
Synonyms: | neuritin 1 |
UniProt Protein Function: | NRN1: Promotes neurite outgrowth and especially branching of neuritic processes in primary hippocampal and cortical cells. Belongs to the neuritin family. |
