The PE Anti-Human CD56 Antibody (5.1H11) offered by AssayGenie is a valuable tool for research involving CD56, a cell surface marker associated with natural killer cells and neural cell adhesion. This antibody is specifically designed for use in flow cytometry applications, enabling the precise identification and characterization of CD56-positive cells in human samples.CD56, also known as neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), is involved in cell-to-cell adhesion, migration, and signal transduction processes. It is a critical marker for identifying and studying natural killer cells, which play a key role in the body's defense against viral infections and cancer. Additionally, CD56 is expressed on various neural cell types and is implicated in neurodevelopmental processes.
The PE Anti-Human CD56 Antibody (5.1H11) is produced using advanced technology to ensure high specificity and sensitivity in detecting CD56 expression. Its application in flow cytometry allows for the simultaneous analysis of multiple cell surface markers, providing detailed insights into the phenotype and function of CD56-expressing cells in various research contexts.Researchers in immunology, oncology, and neurobiology will find this antibody invaluable for studying the role of CD56 in immune responses, cancer immunity, and neural development. By accurately detecting and quantifying CD56 expression, this antibody facilitates comprehensive studies aimed at elucidating the functions and mechanisms underlying CD56-positive cell populations.
Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by flow cytometric analysis. The amount of the reagent is suggested to be used 5 µL of antibody per test (million cells in 100 µL staining volume or per 100 µL of whole blood). Please check your vial before the experiment. Since applications vary, the appropriate dilutions must be determined for individual use.

Background:
CD56 is a single transmembrane glycoprotein also known as NCAM (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule), Leu-19, or NKH1. It is a member of the Ig superfamily. The 140 kD isoform is expressed on NK cells and NK-T cells. CD56 is also expressed in the brain (cerebellum and cortex) and at neuromuscular junctions. Certain large granular lymphocyte (LGL) leukemias, small-cell lung carcinomas, neuronal derived tumors, myelomas, and myeloid leukemias also express CD56. CD56 plays a role in homophilic and heterophilic adhesion via binding to itself or heparin sulfate.
