Description
NANS Monoclonal Antibody [PAT1G6AT] (CPAB0108)
The NANs Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0108) is a valuable tool for researchers studying NANs, a key enzyme involved in sialic acid synthesis. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the NANs protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of NANs levels in various cell types, making it essential for studies in glycobiology and disease research.NANs, also known as N-acetylneuraminic acid synthase, plays a crucial role in the production of sialic acid, an important component of cell surface glycoconjugates involved in cell-cell interactions and signaling pathways.
Dysregulation of NANs activity has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders. Investigating the function of NANs with this specific antibody can provide insights into potential therapeutic targets for these conditions.Overall, the NANs Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers aiming to better understand the role of NANs in cellular function and disease pathology. Its high specificity and reliability in detecting NANs protein levels make it a crucial asset for advancing research in the field of glycobiology.

Background: | NANS is a 359 amino acid protein that contains one AFP (antifreeze proteins)-like domain and functions in the biosynthesis of sialic acids. The ubiquitously expressed NANS enzymatically catalyzes the H2O-dependent formation of N-acetylneuraminic acid (Neu5Ac) and 2-keto-3-deoxy-D-glycero-D-galacto-nononic acid (KDN), both of which are sialic acids. NANS uses N-acetylmannosamine 6-phosphate as a substrate for Neu5Ac synthesis and mannose 6-phosphate as a substrate for KDN synthesis. |
Synonyms: | Sialic acid synthase, N-acetylneuraminate synthase, N-acetylneuraminate-9-phosphate synthase, N-acetylneuraminic acid phosphate synthase, N-acetylneuraminic acid synthase, NANS, SAS. |
