The MYO7A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1911) is specifically designed for research involving MYO7A, a protein associated with Usher syndrome and other genetic disorders affecting hearing and vision. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications.MYO7A is a motor protein that plays a crucial role in the sensory cells of the inner ear and retina, where it is involved in the transportation of cellular components and the maintenance of cell structure. Mutations in the MYO7A gene can lead to hearing loss and vision impairment, making it a key target for research in the fields of otology and ophthalmology.
By utilizing the MYO7A Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can study the expression and localization of MYO7A in different cell types and tissues, gaining insights into its function and potential therapeutic targets for treating disorders associated with MYO7A dysfunction. This antibody is an essential tool for furthering our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying Usher syndrome and related conditions.

This gene is a member of the myosin gene family. Myosins are mechanochemical proteins characterized by the presence of a motor domain, an actin-binding domain, a neck domain that interacts with other proteins, and a tail domain that serves as an anchor. This gene encodes an unconventional myosin with a very short tail. Defects in this gene are associated with the mouse shaker-1 phenotype and the human Usher syndrome 1B which are characterized by deafness, reduced vestibular function, and (in human) retinal degeneration. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
