The MUC4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16922) is designed for research involving MUC4, a cell surface glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in cancer progression and metastasis. This antibody, raised in rabbits, has a high affinity for human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. It specifically binds to the MUC4 protein, facilitating its detection and analysis in cancer cells and tissues.MUC4 is known to promote tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis in various types of cancer, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions.
The overexpression of MUC4 has been linked to poor prognosis in cancer patients, highlighting its potential as a biomarker for disease progression. Investigating the role of MUC4 in cancer biology is essential for developing targeted therapies that can potentially inhibit its oncogenic functions and improve patient outcomes.

The major constituents of mucus, the viscous secretion that covers epithelial surfaces such as those in the trachea, colon, and cervix, are highly glycosylated proteins called mucins. These glycoproteins play important roles in the protection of the epithelial cells and have been implicated in epithelial renewal and differentiation. This gene encodes an integral membrane glycoprotein found on the cell surface, although secreted isoforms may exist. At least two dozen transcript variants of this gene have been found, although for many of them the full-length transcript has not been determined or they are found only in tumor tissues. This gene contains a region in the coding sequence which has a variable number (>100) of 48 nt tandem repeats.
