The MTNR1A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13030) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the melatonin receptor 1A, a G protein-coupled receptor involved in the regulation of circadian rhythms and other physiological processes. This antibody, developed using rabbits as the host species, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in applications such as Western blotting. The MTNR1A antibody binds specifically to the melatonin receptor 1A protein, allowing for the detection and analysis of this receptor in a variety of cell types. This makes it an ideal choice for studies in neurobiology, chronobiology, and endocrinology, as well as in the investigation of conditions such as sleep disorders and mood disorders.
The melatonin receptor 1A is a key player in mediating the effects of melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle and other biological rhythms. Research into the function and regulation of this receptor is important for understanding the role of melatonin in health and disease, and for developing potential therapies that target the melatonin signaling pathway.

This gene encodes one of two high affinity forms of a receptor for melatonin, the primary hormone secreted by the pineal gland. This receptor is a G-protein coupled, 7-transmembrane receptor that is responsible for melatonin effects on mammalian circadian rhythm and reproductive alterations affected by day length. The receptor is an integral membrane protein that is readily detectable and localized to two specific regions of the brain. The hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus appears to be involved in circadian rhythm while the hypophysial pars tuberalis may be responsible for the reproductive effects of melatonin.
