The MRPS28 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB4660) is specially designed for research involving mitochondrial ribosomal protein S28 (MRPS28), a vital component of the mitochondrial ribosome involved in protein synthesis within the mitochondria. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.By targeting the MRPS28 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of MRPS28 in a variety of cells, making it ideal for studies related to mitochondrial function, protein synthesis, and cellular metabolism. Understanding the role of MRPS28 is crucial for unraveling the intricate mechanisms underlying mitochondrial protein translation and its impact on cellular homeostasis.
The MRPS28 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers delving into mitochondrial biology, biochemistry, and diseases associated with mitochondrial dysfunction such as metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. By investigating the function of MRPS28, scientists can gain insights into the role of mitochondrial ribosomal proteins in cellular health and disease, paving the way for potential therapeutic interventions targeting mitochondrial dysfunction.

Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein that has been called mitochondrial ribosomal protein S35 in the literature.
