The MRPS26 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB4940) is a valuable tool for research involving the MRPS26 protein, a component of the mitochondrial ribosome. This antibody, produced in rabbits, specifically recognizes MRPS26 in human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to MRPS26, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of the protein in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in mitochondrial biology and related research areas.MRPS26 is essential for the proper functioning of the mitochondrial ribosome, which is responsible for synthesizing proteins within the mitochondria. Disruptions to this process can lead to defects in mitochondrial protein synthesis and impact overall cell function.
Research on MRPS26 is important for understanding how mitochondrial ribosomes function and how their dysfunction contributes to diseases such as mitochondrial disorders and certain types of cancer. With its high reactivity and specificity for MRPS26, the CAB4940 antibody is a reliable tool for researchers seeking to investigate the role of MRPS26 in mitochondrial biology and its implications for human health. By studying MRPS26, scientists can gain valuable insights into mitochondrial protein synthesis and potential therapeutic targets for diseases associated with mitochondrial dysfunction.

Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein. This gene lies adjacent to and downstream of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone precursor gene.
