Description
MRPS23 Antibody (PACO10607)
The MRPS23 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO10607) is a valuable tool for researchers studying MRPS23, a mitochondrial ribosomal protein involved in protein synthesis within the mitochondria. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the MRPS23 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in the fields of molecular biology and mitochondrial research.
MRPS23 is a crucial component of the mitochondrial ribosome, playing a key role in the translation of mitochondrial-encoded proteins essential for proper mitochondrial function. Dysregulation of MRPS23 has been linked to various diseases, including mitochondrial disorders and cancer. By studying the function and regulation of MRPS23, researchers can gain important insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions, potentially leading to the development of novel therapeutic strategies targeting mitochondrial protein synthesis.

NCBI Summary: | Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein. A pseudogene corresponding to this gene is found on chromosome 7p. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
