The MRPS22 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8319) is a valuable tool for researchers studying MRPS22, a mitochondrial ribosomal protein essential for protein synthesis within the mitochondria. This polyclonal antibody is produced in rabbits and exhibits high reactivity with human samples. Validated for use in Western blot applications, it specifically binds to the MRPS22 protein, allowing for reliable detection and analysis in a variety of cell types.MRPS22 is a crucial component of the mitochondrial ribosome, playing a key role in the translation of mitochondrial DNA-encoded proteins.
Dysregulation of MRPS22 has been implicated in various diseases, including mitochondrial disorders and cancer. By studying the function and localization of MRPS22 using this antibody, researchers can gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially identify therapeutic targets for intervention. Overall, the MRPS22 Polyclonal Antibody is an essential tool for investigating the role of MRPS22 in mitochondrial protein synthesis and its implications for human health and disease.

Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein that does not seem to have a counterpart in prokaryotic and fungal-mitochondrial ribosomes. This gene lies telomeric of and is transcribed in the opposite direction from the forkhead box L2 gene. A pseudogene corresponding to this gene is found on chromosome Xq.
