The MRPS2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14279) is a valuable tool for researchers studying MRPS2, a mitochondrial ribosomal protein essential for protein synthesis within the mitochondria. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the MRPS2 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of MRPS2 in a variety of cell types, making it an ideal choice for investigations in mitochondrial biology, cellular metabolism, and related fields.
MRPS2 is a key player in mitochondrial protein synthesis, a process critical for the proper functioning of the mitochondria and, consequently, overall cellular health. Dysregulation of MRPS2 has been linked to various mitochondrial disorders and metabolic diseases, highlighting its importance in cellular physiology. Researchers studying mitochondrial function, metabolic pathways, and related diseases will find the MRPS2 Polyclonal Antibody to be a valuable asset in their experimental work.

Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 28S subunit protein that belongs to the ribosomal protein S2 family. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene.
