The MRPL22 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14586) is a valuable tool for researchers studying MRPL22, a mitochondrial ribosomal protein involved in protein synthesis within the mitochondria. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the MRPL22 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of MRPL22 in various cell types, making it ideal for research in mitochondrial function and its role in cellular metabolism.MRPL22 plays a crucial role in maintaining mitochondrial function and has been implicated in diseases related to mitochondrial dysfunction, such as neurodegenerative disorders and metabolic diseases.
Understanding the function and regulation of MRPL22 is essential for uncovering the mechanisms underlying these diseases and developing potential therapeutic strategies.Overall, the MRPL22 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14586) is a valuable tool for researchers interested in studying mitochondrial protein synthesis and its implications in various cellular processes and disease states.

Mammalian mitochondrial ribosomal proteins are encoded by nuclear genes and help in protein synthesis within the mitochondrion. Mitochondrial ribosomes (mitoribosomes) consist of a small 28S subunit and a large 39S subunit. They have an estimated 75% protein to rRNA composition compared to prokaryotic ribosomes, where this ratio is reversed. Another difference between mammalian mitoribosomes and prokaryotic ribosomes is that the latter contain a 5S rRNA. Among different species, the proteins comprising the mitoribosome differ greatly in sequence, and sometimes in biochemical properties, which prevents easy recognition by sequence homology. This gene encodes a 39S subunit protein that belongs to the L22 ribosomal protein family. A pseudogene corresponding to this gene is found on chromosome 4q. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
