The MPST Polyclonal Antibody (CAB11587) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the protein MPST, which is involved in cellular processes related to sulfur metabolism and redox regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the MPST protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in biochemistry and molecular biology.
MPST, also known as mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase, plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular redox balance and detoxification processes. Its involvement in sulfur metabolism pathways makes it a target of interest for research into conditions related to oxidative stress and metabolic disorders. The MPST Polyclonal Antibody can help researchers elucidate the functions and mechanisms of MPST, thereby contributing to the development of potential therapeutic strategies for various diseases.

This protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the transfer of a sulfur ion from 3-mercaptopyruvate to cyanide or other thiol compounds. It may be involved in cysteine degradation and cyanide detoxification. There is confusion in literature between this protein (mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase, MPST), which appears to be cytoplasmic, and thiosulfate sulfurtransferase (rhodanese, TST, GeneID:7263), which is a mitochondrial protein. Deficiency in MPST activity has been implicated in a rare inheritable disorder known as mercaptolactate-cysteine disulfiduria (MCDU). Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding same or different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
