The Mouse CD80 Monoclonal Antibody (PE/Cyanine7 Conjugated, 16-10A1) offered by AssayGenie (AGEL0527) is a high-quality reagent designed for research involving the CD80 protein, a critical co-stimulatory molecule involved in T cell activation and immune response regulation. This antibody, derived from mouse monoclonal sources, is specifically conjugated with PE/Cyanine7 for enhanced detection capabilities in flow cytometry and immunofluorescence applications.CD80, also known as B7-1, serves as a ligand for the T cell receptor CD28 and is essential for the initiation and regulation of adaptive immune responses. By binding to CD80, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis of CD80 expression on various cell types, facilitating detailed investigations in immunology, vaccine development, and autoimmune disease research.
The role of CD80 in the modulation of T cell activation and tolerance makes it a key target for understanding immune responses in various physiological and pathological conditions. This antibody provides researchers with a valuable tool to study the intricate interactions involving CD80, paving the way for advancements in immunotherapy, vaccination strategies, and treatment approaches for immune-related disorders.

Background:
CD80 is a 60 kD highly glycosylated protein. It is a member of the Ig superfamily and is also known as B7-1, B7, and Ly-53. CD80 is constitutively expressed on dendritic cells and monocytes/macrophages, and inducibly expressed on activated B and T cells. The ligation of CD28 on T cells with CD80 and CD86 (B7-2) on antigen presenting cells (such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells) elicits co-stimulation of T cells resulting in enhanced cell activation, proliferation, and cytokine production. CD80 appears to be expressed later in the immune response than CD86. CD80 can also bind to CD152, also known as CTLA-4, to deliver an inhibitory signal to T cells.
