The Mouse CD71 Monoclonal Antibody PE/Cyanine7 Conjugated (R17-217.1-3/TIB-219) is a powerful tool for researchers investigating CD71, a cell surface marker involved in transferrin uptake and iron metabolism. This antibody, derived from mouse hybridoma cells, exhibits strong reactivity with mouse samples and is optimized for flow cytometry applications. By specifically binding to the CD71 antigen, it enables precise detection and analysis of CD71 expression in various cell populations, making it an essential tool for studies in immunology, cell biology, and cancer research.
CD71, also known as transferrin receptor protein 1, plays a crucial role in cellular iron uptake and is commonly upregulated in rapidly dividing cells such as cancer cells. Understanding the expression and regulation of CD71 is key to unraveling its role in iron homeostasis, cell proliferation, and disease progression. This antibody provides researchers with a reliable means to study CD71 dynamics in different cell types, aiding in the investigation of iron metabolism, cancer biology, and potential therapeutic interventions targeting CD71-expressing cells.

Background:
CD71 is a 95 kD type II heterodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein that is also known as T9 and transferrin receptor. CD71 is expressed on proliferating cells, reticulocytes, and erythroid precursors. Its expression is very low on resting leukocytes. CD71 plays a role in the control of cellular proliferation by facilitating the uptake of iron via ferrotransferrin binding and the recycling of apotransferrin to the cell surface.
