The Mouse CD49b Monoclonal Antibody (PE-Conjugated, DX5, AGEL1446) is a specialized tool for researchers investigating CD49b, a cell surface marker primarily found on natural killer cells and a subset of T cells. This monoclonal antibody, conjugated with PE for fluorescent detection, has been rigorously tested and validated for flow cytometry applications in mouse samples.CD49b, also known as α2 integrin, plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and migration, particularly in the context of immune responses and tissue repair. Its presence on specific immune cell populations makes it a valuable target for immunology studies, ranging from understanding immune surveillance mechanisms to investigating immune cell recruitment to inflammatory sites.
By using the Mouse CD49b Monoclonal Antibody (PE-Conjugated, DX5, AGEL1446), researchers can accurately identify and quantitate CD49b-expressing cells, enabling detailed analysis of immune cell populations in various experimental settings. This antibody is an essential tool for advancing knowledge in immunology, inflammation, and immune cell biology.

Background:
DX5 antigen has been recently characterized as CD49b. It is a 150 kD integrin α chain also known as α2 integrin, VLA-2 α chain, and integrin α2 chain. CD49b non-covalently associates with CD29 (β1 integrin) to form the CD49b/CD29 complex known as VLA-2, a receptor for collagen and laminin. CD49b is expressed on platelets, the majority of NK cells, NKT cells, and a small subset of CD8+ T cells (this population can be significantly increased following viral infection). DX5 is used for the identification and isolation of NK cells, and is especially useful for identifying NK cells in mice lacking the NK1.1 antigen.
