The Mouse CD103 Monoclonal Antibody (Biotin Conjugated) M290 (AGEL0331) is a high-quality research tool designed for scientists studying CD103, a cell surface protein associated with immune responses, particularly in the context of tissue-resident memory T cells. This antibody, derived from a monoclonal hybridoma culture, exhibits strong specificity for mouse samples and is optimized for use in various experimental techniques including flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry.CD103, also known as integrin alpha E, plays a crucial role in immune surveillance and homing of T cells to mucosal tissues. Its expression on intraepithelial T lymphocytes is a hallmark of tissue-resident memory cells, which are pivotal in providing rapid and localized immune protection. The Mouse CD103 Monoclonal Antibody (Biotin Conjugated) M290 (AGEL0331) detects and binds specifically to CD103, enabling researchers to analyze its presence and distribution within different cell populations, thereby facilitating investigations into immune responses, inflammation, and immune cell trafficking within tissues.
With CD103 being implicated in various physiological and pathological processes, such as immune-mediated diseases and cancer immunity, this antibody serves as an invaluable tool for gaining insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions. By elucidating the role of CD103 in immune function and disease progression, researchers can potentially identify new therapeutic targets and develop strategies for manipulating immune responses for clinical applications.

Background:
CD103 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein known as αE integrin or Integrin αIEL chain. It belongs to the integrin family and is primarily found on intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes (IEL). CD103 is also expressed on a subpopulation of lamina propria T cells, epithelial dendritic cells, lamina propria-derived dendritic cells, and a small subset of peripheral lymphocytes. T regulatory cells express high level of CD103. The CD103 expression on lymphocytes can be induced upon activation and TGF-β stimulation. In association with integrin β7, CD103 is expressed as αE/β7 heterodimer. Mature CD103 protein can be cleaved into 2 chains, a 150 kD (C-terminal) chain and a 25 kD (N-terminal) chain, which remain linked by disulfide bonds. CD103 binds to E-cadherin and mediates homing of lymphocytes to the intestinal epithelium.
