The MICB Polyclonal Antibody (CAB9802) is a valuable tool for researchers studying MICB, a cell surface protein involved in immune responses, specifically in activating natural killer cells. This antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the MICB protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of MICB in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in immunology and cancer research.
MICB, a stress-induced ligand expressed on the surface of cells, plays a crucial role in immune surveillance and response to viral infections and tumors. Its involvement in activating natural killer cells makes it a promising target for research into diseases such as cancer and viral infections. Understanding the function of MICB is essential for developing therapies that can enhance immune responses against these conditions.

This gene encodes a heavily glycosylated protein which is a ligand for the NKG2D type II receptor. Binding of the ligand activates the cytolytic response of natural killer (NK) cells, CD8 alphabeta T cells, and gammadelta T cells which express the receptor. This protein is stress-induced and is similar to MHC class I molecules; however, it does not associate with beta-2-microglobulin or bind peptides. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
