The Med1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1724) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Med1 protein, a transcriptional coactivator that plays a key role in various cellular processes, including gene expression regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the Med1 protein, this antibody facilitates the detection and analysis of Med1 in different cell types, making it an essential component in studies related to gene regulation, cell signaling, and cancer research.
Med1, also known as PBP or TRAP220, is a crucial mediator of transcriptional activation, interacting with various transcription factors to regulate gene expression. Its involvement in diverse physiological and pathological processes makes it a promising target for exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases such as cancer, metabolic disorders, and immune system dysregulation. Understanding the functions of Med1 is essential for identifying potential therapeutic targets and developing interventions aimed at modulating gene expression for improved health outcomes.

The activation of gene transcription is a multistep process that is triggered by factors that recognize transcriptional enhancer sites in DNA. These factors work with co-activators to direct transcriptional initiation by the RNA polymerase II apparatus. The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the CRSP (cofactor required for SP1 activation) complex, which, along with TFIID, is required for efficient activation by SP1. This protein is also a component of other multisubunit complexes e.g. thyroid hormone receptor-(TR-) associated proteins which interact with TR and facilitate TR function on DNA templates in conjunction with initiation factors and cofactors. It also regulates p53-dependent apoptosis and it is essential for adipogenesis. This protein is known to have the ability to self-oligomerize.
