The MASP2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16030) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Mannan-binding Lectin-Associated Serine Protease 2 (MASP2) protein. MASP2 is a key component of the lectin pathway of the complement system, playing a critical role in innate immunity and inflammation. This polyclonal antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to MASP2, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of this important protein in a variety of cell types.
Research on MASP2 is essential for understanding its role in the complement pathway and its implications in various disease states, including autoimmune disorders, infectious diseases, and inflammatory conditions. By studying MASP2, researchers can gain insights into the mechanisms of immune response and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for treating immune-related disorders. The MASP2 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for advancing research in immunology and inflammatory diseases.

This gene encodes a member of the peptidase S1 family of serine proteases. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate A and B chains that heterodimerize to form the mature protease. This protease cleaves complement components C2 and C4 in order to generate C3 convertase in the lectin pathway of the complement system. The encoded protease also plays a role in the coagulation cascade through cleavage of prothrombin to form thrombin. Myocardial infarction and acute stroke patients exhibit reduced serum concentrations of the encoded protein. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes an isoform that is proteolytically processed.
