The MAP4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5906) is designed for researchers investigating MAP4, a microtubule-associated protein involved in regulating microtubule dynamics and cell structure. This antibody, developed in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. It binds specifically to the MAP4 protein, allowing for precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in cell biology and cancer research.
MAP4 is a crucial player in the organization and stabilization of microtubules, which are essential for cell division, intracellular transport, and cell shape maintenance. Dysregulation of this protein has been linked to cell migration defects, chromosome segregation errors, and cancer progression. By investigating the function of MAP4, researchers can gain insights into its role in cellular processes and potentially identify new targets for therapeutic intervention in diseases like cancer.

The protein encoded by this gene is a major non-neuronal microtubule-associated protein. This protein contains a domain similar to the microtubule-binding domains of neuronal microtubule-associated protein (MAP2) and microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT/TAU). This protein promotes microtubule assembly, and has been shown to counteract destabilization of interphase microtubule catastrophe promotion. Cyclin B was found to interact with this protein, which targets cell division cycle 2 (CDC2) kinase to microtubules. The phosphorylation of this protein affects microtubule properties and cell cycle progression. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
