Description
Map2k4 Antibody (PACO28138)
The MAP2K4 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO28138) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the MAP2K4 protein, a key player in cell signaling pathways that regulate processes such as cell growth, differentiation, and response to stress. This antibody is produced in rabbits and has been extensively validated for use in Western blot applications, where it specifically binds to the MAP2K4 protein.MAP2K4, also known as mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 4, is involved in various cellular functions, including cell proliferation and apoptosis.
Dysregulation of MAP2K4 has been linked to diseases like cancer, making it an attractive target for further investigation in cancer research. By understanding the role of MAP2K4 in signaling pathways, researchers can potentially uncover new therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.Overall, the MAP2K4 Polyclonal Antibody (PACO28138) offers a reliable tool for researchers interested in studying the functions and mechanisms of MAP2K4 in different cellular processes, with potential applications in cancer biology and drug discovery.

Background: | Dual specificity protein kinase which acts as an essential component of the MAP kinase signal transduction pathway. Essential component of the stress-activated protein kinase/c-Jun N-terminal kinase (SAP/JNK) signaling pathway. With MAP2K7/MKK7, is the one of the only known kinase to directly activate the stress-activated protein kinase/c-Jun N-terminal kinases MAPK8/JNK1, MAPK9/JNK2 and MAPK10/JNK3. MAP2K4/MKK4 and MAP2K7/MKK7 both activate the JNKs by phosphorylation, but they differ in their preference for the phosphorylation site in the Thr-Pro-Tyr motif. MAP2K4 shows preference for phosphorylation of the Tyr residue and MAP2K7/MKK7 for the Thr residue. The phosphorylation of the Thr residue by MAP2K7/MKK7 seems to be the prerequisite for JNK activation at least in response to proinflammatory cytokines, while other stimuli activate both MAP2K4/MKK4 and MAP2K7/MKK7 which synergistically phosphorylate JNKs. MAP2K4 is required for maintaining peripheral lymphoid homeostasis. The MKK/JNK signaling pathway is also involved in mitochondrial death signaling pathway, including the release cytochrome c, leading to apoptosis. Whereas MAP2K7/MKK7 exclusively activates JNKs, MAP2K4/MKK4 additionally activates the p38 MAPKs MAPK11, MAPK12, MAPK13 and MAPK14. |

UniProt Protein Function: | MKK4: dual specificity kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1 and -2 as well as p38 but not ERK1 or -2. Mediates cellular responses to various cellular stresses and inflammatory cytokines. Phosphorylation by Akt inhibits MKK4 and suppresses stress-activated signal transduction.Protein type: Protein kinase, dual-specificity (non-receptor); Protein kinase, STE; EC 2.7.12.2; Kinase, protein; STE group; STE7 familyCellular Component: axon; cytoplasm; cytosol; dendrite cytoplasm; nucleus; perikaryonMolecular Function: ATP binding; JUN kinase kinase activity; MAP kinase kinase activity; mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase binding; protein binding; receptor signaling protein serine/threonine kinase activityBiological Process: activation of JNK activity; JNK cascade; MAPKKK cascade; positive regulation of apoptosis; positive regulation of DNA replication; positive regulation of neuron apoptosis; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase biosynthetic process; positive regulation of protein amino acid phosphorylation; protein amino acid phosphorylation; response to wounding |
