The MAP1LC3A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5618) is a valuable tool for research involving MAP1LC3A, a key protein involved in autophagy, a cellular process crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis and removing damaged organelles and proteins. The antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. It specifically binds to the MAP1LC3A protein, allowing for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for studies in cell biology, metabolism, and neurodegenerative diseases.
MAP1LC3A, also known as Microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3A, plays a critical role in the formation of autophagosomes, which are responsible for carrying cellular cargo for degradation during autophagy. Dysregulation of autophagy and MAP1LC3A has been implicated in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and metabolic diseases. Understanding the functions and regulation of MAP1LC3A is essential for developing targeted therapies and interventions for these conditions.

MAP1A and MAP1B are microtubule-associated proteins which mediate the physical interactions between microtubules and components of the cytoskeleton. MAP1A and MAP1B each consist of a heavy chain subunit and multiple light chain subunits. The protein encoded by this gene is one of the light chain subunits and can associate with either MAP1A or MAP1B. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The expression of variant 1 is suppressed in many tumor cell lines, suggesting that may be involved in carcinogenesis.
