The MAFF Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12920) is a powerful tool for researchers studying the MAFF protein, a transcription factor known for its involvement in oxidative stress response and cell growth regulation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the MAFF protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of MAFF in a variety of cell types, making it well-suited for investigations in fields such as molecular biology and cancer research.
MAFF functions as a key player in cellular responses to oxidative stress, acting as a transcriptional regulator that influences the expression of genes involved in antioxidant defense mechanisms. Its role in maintaining cellular homeostasis places it at the forefront of research on conditions impacted by oxidative stress, including cancer, inflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases. By delving into the mechanisms through which MAFF operates, researchers can uncover new pathways for the development of therapeutic interventions targeting these ailments.

The protein encoded by this gene is a basic leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factor that lacks a transactivation domain. It is known to bind the US-2 DNA element in the promoter of the oxytocin receptor (OTR) gene and most likely heterodimerizes with other leucine zipper-containing proteins to enhance expression of the OTR gene during term pregnancy. The encoded protein can also form homodimers, and since it lacks a transactivation domain, the homodimer may act as a repressor of transcription. This gene may also be involved in the cellular stress response. Multiple transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.
