Description
Anti-MADCAM1 Antibody (CAB3005)
The MadCAM1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3005) is a valuable tool for researchers studying MadCAM1, a cell adhesion molecule that plays a key role in the regulation of immune responses, particularly within the gastrointestinal tract. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is specifically validated for use in applications such as Western blotting.MadCAM1 is known for its involvement in the recruitment of lymphocytes to mucosal tissues, making it essential for understanding the mechanisms of immune surveillance and inflammatory reactions in the gut.
Research on MadCAM1 can provide insights into various diseases, including inflammatory bowel diseases, celiac disease, and other gastrointestinal disorders.By targeting MadCAM1, researchers can gain a better understanding of how immune cells interact with the intestinal lining and potentially develop therapeutic strategies to modulate immune responses in conditions associated with gut inflammation. The MadCAM1 Polyclonal Antibody serves as a crucial tool for investigating these pathways and advancing our knowledge of immune regulation in gastrointestinal health.

Background: | The protein encoded by this gene is an endothelial cell adhesion molecule that interacts preferentially with the leukocyte beta7 integrin LPAM-1 (alpha4beta7), L-selectin, and VLA-4 (alpha4beta1) on myeloid cells to direct leukocytes into mucosal and inflamed tissues. It is a member of the immunoglobulin family and is similar to ICAM1 and VCAM1. At least seven alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different protein isoforms have been found for this gene, but the full-length nature of some variants has not been determined. |
UniProt Protein Function: | MADCAM1: Cell adhesion leukocyte receptor expressed by mucosal venules, helps to direct lymphocyte traffic into mucosal tissues including the Peyer patches and the intestinal lamina propria. It can bind both integrin alpha-4/beta-7 and L-selectin, regulating both the passage and retention of leukocytes. Isoform 2, lacking the mucin-like domain, may be specialized in supporting integrin alpha-4/beta-7-dependent adhesion strengthening, independent of L- selectin binding. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing. |
