The LRP1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1439) is a specialized tool for scientists studying the Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1 (LRP1). This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human LRP1 protein and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.LRP1 is a multifunctional cell surface receptor involved in various biological processes, including lipid metabolism, cellular signaling, and clearance of molecules from the extracellular space. Dysregulation of LRP1 has been implicated in a wide range of diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, atherosclerosis, and cancer.
By using the LRP1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze LRP1 protein levels in different cell types, providing valuable insights into its role in health and disease. This antibody is an essential tool for studies in molecular biology, cardiovascular research, and neurodegenerative diseases, helping to advance our understanding of LRP1 function and its potential as a therapeutic target.

This gene encodes a member of the low-density lipoprotein receptor family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed by furin to generate 515 kDa and 85 kDa subunits that form the mature receptor (PMID: 8546712). This receptor is involved in several cellular processes, including intracellular signaling, lipid homeostasis, and clearance of apoptotic cells. In addition, the encoded protein is necessary for the alpha 2-macroglobulin-mediated clearance of secreted amyloid precursor protein and beta-amyloid, the main component of amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer patients. Expression of this gene decreases with age and has been found to be lower than controls in brain tissue from Alzheimer's disease patients.
