The LRP1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13509) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1 (LRP1), a multifunctional cell surface receptor involved in various physiological processes. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for Western blot applications. By binding to the LRP1 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a range of cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease, and other conditions where LRP1 plays a crucial role.
LRP1, also known as CD91, is a key player in lipid metabolism, cellular signaling, and clearance of extracellular ligands. Dysregulation of LRP1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and other disorders. By understanding the mechanisms of LRP1 function, researchers can gain insights into potential therapeutic targets for these conditions. The LRP1 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for advancing research in this field and uncovering new avenues for treatment and prevention strategies.

This gene encodes a member of the low-density lipoprotein receptor family of proteins. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed by furin to generate 515 kDa and 85 kDa subunits that form the mature receptor (PMID: 8546712). This receptor is involved in several cellular processes, including intracellular signaling, lipid homeostasis, and clearance of apoptotic cells. In addition, the encoded protein is necessary for the alpha 2-macroglobulin-mediated clearance of secreted amyloid precursor protein and beta-amyloid, the main component of amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer patients. Expression of this gene decreases with age and has been found to be lower than controls in brain tissue from Alzheimer's disease patients.
