Description
LPA Antibody (PACO34866)
The LPA Antibody (PAC034866) is a highly specific polyclonal antibody designed for research involving LPA, a bioactive lipid molecule known for its role in numerous cellular processes. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows strong reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to LPA, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of LPA levels in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in lipid signaling pathways, cell migration, and cancer research.LPA, or lysophosphatidic acid, is a potent signaling molecule that is involved in a wide range of biological functions, including cell proliferation, survival, and migration.
Dysregulation of LPA signaling has been implicated in various diseases such as cancer, fibrosis, and neurodegenerative disorders. As such, understanding the mechanisms underlying LPA signaling and its effects on cellular processes is crucial for developing targeted therapies for these conditions.Overall, the PAC034866 LPA Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers investigating the role of LPA in health and disease. Its high specificity and reactivity make it a reliable choice for studying the complex functions of this bioactive lipid molecule in various cellular contexts.

Background: | Apo(a) is the main constituent of lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)). It has serine proteinase activity and is able of autoproteolysis. Inhibits tissue-type plasminogen activator 1. Lp(a) may be a ligand for megalin/Gp 330. |
Synonyms: | Apolipoprotein(a) (Apo(a)) (Lp(a)) (EC 3.4.21.-), LPA |
UniProt Protein Function: | LPA: Apo(a) is the main constituent of lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)). It has serine proteinase activity and is able of autoproteolysis. Inhibits tissue-type plasminogen activator 1. Lp(a) may be a ligand for megalin/Gp 330. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Plasminogen subfamily. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene is a serine proteinase that inhibits the activity of tissue-type plasminogen activator I. The encoded protein constitutes a substantial portion of lipoprotein(a) and is proteolytically cleaved, resulting in fragments that attach to atherosclerotic lesions and promote thrombogenesis. Elevated plasma levels of this protein are linked to atherosclerosis. Depending on the individual, the encoded protein contains 2-43 copies of kringle-type domains. The allele represented here contains 15 copies of the kringle-type repeats and corresponds to that found in the reference genome sequence. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009] |
