The LDHB Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18096) is a valuable tool for researchers studying LDHB, an enzyme involved in the interconversion of lactate and pyruvate in the glycolytic pathway. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity for human samples and has been validated for its use in Western blot applications. By binding to the LDHB protein, this antibody allows for precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it well-suited for investigations in metabolic processes, cancer metabolism, and other related fields.
LDHB, also known as lactate dehydrogenase B, is crucial for maintaining cellular energy metabolism and has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer and metabolic disorders. Understanding the role of LDHB in these pathologies can provide insights into potential therapeutic strategies targeting metabolic pathways. By studying LDHB expression and activity, researchers can uncover new mechanisms underlying disease progression and identify novel therapeutic targets for intervention.

This gene encodes the B subunit of lactate dehydrogenase enzyme, which catalyzes the interconversion of pyruvate and lactate with concomitant interconversion of NADH and NAD+ in a post-glycolysis process. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. Recent studies have shown that a C-terminally extended isoform is produced by use of an alternative in-frame translation termination codon via a stop codon readthrough mechanism, and that this isoform is localized in the peroxisomes. Mutations in this gene are associated with lactate dehydrogenase B deficiency. Pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes X, 5 and 13.
