The LBP Polyclonal Antibody (CAB17507) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Lipopolysaccharide Binding Protein (LBP), a key protein involved in the immune response to bacterial infections. This antibody is produced in rabbits and is highly specific to human samples, making it a reliable choice for Western blot applications.LBP is an important component of the innate immune system, playing a critical role in the recognition and response to bacterial pathogens. It functions by binding to lipopolysaccharides (LPS), a component of bacterial cell walls, and facilitating their detection by immune cells.
This process triggers an inflammatory response that is essential for clearing bacterial infections.Research into LBP's functions and regulation is essential for understanding how the immune system responds to bacterial infections and how dysregulation of this process can contribute to inflammatory diseases. The LBP Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for investigating these mechanisms and advancing our knowledge in immunology and infectious diseases.

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in the acute-phase immunologic response to gram-negative bacterial infections. Gram-negative bacteria contain a glycolipid, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), on their outer cell wall. Together with bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI), the encoded protein binds LPS and interacts with the CD14 receptor, probably playing a role in regulating LPS-dependent monocyte responses. Studies in mice suggest that the encoded protein is necessary for the rapid acute-phase response to LPS but not for the clearance of LPS from circulation. This protein is part of a family of structurally and functionally related proteins, including BPI, plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), and phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP).
