The KO-Validated Protein DJ-1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0987) is a valuable tool for researchers studying DJ-1, a protein known for its role in cellular protection and oxidative stress response. This polyclonal antibody, developed using rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been rigorously validated for Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the DJ-1 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for use in studies focused on neurodegenerative diseases, Parkinson's disease, and other disorders associated with DJ-1 dysfunction.
DJ-1, also known as Parkinson disease protein 7, is involved in multiple cellular processes, including antioxidant defense mechanisms and mitochondrial function. Dysregulation of DJ-1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, making it an attractive target for therapeutic interventions. Research into the function and regulation of DJ-1 is essential for advancing our understanding of these diseases and developing novel treatment strategies.

The product of this gene belongs to the peptidase C56 family of proteins. It acts as a positive regulator of androgen receptor-dependent transcription. It may also function as a redox-sensitive chaperone, as a sensor for oxidative stress, and it apparently protects neurons against oxidative stress and cell death. Defects in this gene are the cause of autosomal recessive early-onset Parkinson disease 7. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene.
