The KO Validated CRYZ Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody (CAB19997) is an essential tool for research focusing on the CRYZ protein, an enzyme involved in the metabolism of aldehyde and ketone compounds. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has high specificity for human samples and has been rigorously validated for Western blot applications. By binding to the CRYZ protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an ideal choice for investigations in biochemistry and drug development.CRYZ, also known as crystallin zeta, plays a crucial role in detoxifying aldehyde compounds in the body, making it a key player in maintaining cellular health and preventing oxidative damage.
Understanding the function and regulation of CRYZ is essential for developing potential treatments for conditions related to aldehyde toxicity, such as cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases. By targeting CRYZ with this validated antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially identify new therapeutic strategies.

Crystallins are separated into two classes: taxon-specific, or enzyme, and ubiquitous. The latter class constitutes the major proteins of vertebrate eye lens and maintains the transparency and refractive index of the lens. The former class is also called phylogenetically-restricted crystallins. This gene encodes a taxon-specific crystallin protein which has NADPH-dependent quinone reductase activity distinct from other known quinone reductases. It lacks alcohol dehydrogenase activity although by similarity it is considered a member of the zinc-containing alcohol dehydrogenase family. Unlike other mammalian species, in humans, lens expression is low. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. One pseudogene is known to exist.
