The AKR1B1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18031) is a valuable tool for researchers studying AKR1B1, an enzyme involved in the metabolism of glucose and lipid aldehydes. This rabbit-raised antibody is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the AKR1B1 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for studies in metabolic disorders and cancer research.AKR1B1, also known as aldose reductase, plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular redox balance and is implicated in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications and various cancers.
Its involvement in glucose and lipid metabolism makes it a promising therapeutic target for conditions like diabetes, obesity, and cancer. By understanding the function of AKR1B1, researchers can develop novel treatments that target its activity and improve outcomes for patients with these diseases.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-316 of human AKR1B1 (NP_001619.1).
This gene encodes a member of the aldo/keto reductase superfamily, which consists of more than 40 known enzymes and proteins. This member catalyzes the reduction of a number of aldehydes, including the aldehyde form of glucose, and is thereby implicated in the development of diabetic complications by catalyzing the reduction of glucose to sorbitol. Multiple pseudogenes have been identified for this gene. The nomenclature system used by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee to define human aldo-keto reductase family members is known to differ from that used by the Mouse Genome Informatics database.
