The Kirrel2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB13130) is a valuable tool for researchers studying Kirrel2, a cell adhesion molecule involved in neuronal development and synapse formation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the Kirrel2 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it ideal for research in neuroscience and developmental biology.Kirrel2, also known as Kin of IRRE-Like Protein 2, plays a crucial role in promoting neuronal connectivity and synaptogenesis in the brain.
Dysfunction of Kirrel2 has been implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders and cognitive impairment, making it a promising target for studying conditions such as autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities. Investigating the function of Kirrel2 is essential for unraveling the mechanisms underlying neural circuit formation and function, with potential implications for therapeutic interventions in neurological disorders.

This gene encodes a type I transmembrane protein and member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules. The encoded protein localizes to adherens junctions in pancreatic beta cells and regulates insulin secretion. Autoantibodies against the encoded protein have been detected in serum from patients with type 1 diabetes. This gene may also play a role in glomerular development and decreased expression of this gene has been observed in human glomerular diseases. This gene and the related opposite-strand gene nephrin (GeneID: 527362) are regulated by a bidirectional promoter.
