Description
[KD Validated] G6PD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB22242)
The G6PD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB22242) is a valuable tool for researchers studying glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), an enzyme involved in red blood cell metabolism and protecting cells from oxidative damage. This antibody, raised in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for Western blot applications.G6PD deficiency is a common genetic condition that can lead to hemolytic anemia under certain conditions, making it a target of interest in research on red blood cell disorders. By specifically binding to the G6PD protein, this antibody allows for precise detection and analysis in various cell types, facilitating studies in hematology and oxidative stress-related diseases.
The role of G6PD in maintaining redox balance and cellular function highlights its importance in health and disease. Understanding the mechanisms underlying G6PD activity is crucial for developing targeted therapies for conditions such as hemolytic anemia, malaria, and metabolic disorders. The G6PD Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for investigating the functions and regulation of this enzyme, advancing research in these areas.

This gene encodes glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. This protein is a cytosolic enzyme encoded by a housekeeping X-linked gene whose main function is to produce NADPH, a key electron donor in the defense against oxidizing agents and in reductive biosynthetic reactions. G6PD is remarkable for its genetic diversity. Many variants of G6PD, mostly produced from missense mutations, have been described with wide ranging levels of enzyme activity and associated clinical symptoms. G6PD deficiency may cause neonatal jaundice, acute hemolysis, or severe chronic non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
