Description
[KD Validated] G6PD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB21750)
The G6PD Polyclonal Antibody (CAB21750) is a valuable tool for researchers studying glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), an enzyme involved in the pentose phosphate pathway. This antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the G6PD protein, this antibody allows for precise detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an essential component in studies related to metabolism, redox biology, and disease mechanisms.G6PD is a crucial enzyme in maintaining cellular redox balance and protecting cells from oxidative damage.
Dysregulation of G6PD activity has been implicated in various pathological conditions, including metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. By investigating the function and regulation of G6PD, researchers can gain insight into the underlying mechanisms of these diseases and identify potential therapeutic targets.Overall, the G6PD Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable resource for researchers exploring the role of G6PD in health and disease. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it a reliable tool for conducting detailed analyses and advancing our understanding of cellular metabolism and redox signaling pathways.

This gene encodes glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase. This protein is a cytosolic enzyme encoded by a housekeeping X-linked gene whose main function is to produce NADPH, a key electron donor in the defense against oxidizing agents and in reductive biosynthetic reactions. G6PD is remarkable for its genetic diversity. Many variants of G6PD, mostly produced from missense mutations, have been described with wide ranging levels of enzyme activity and associated clinical symptoms. G6PD deficiency may cause neonatal jaundice, acute hemolysis, or severe chronic non-spherocytic hemolytic anemia. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
