The KCNAB1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15334) is a valuable tool for researchers studying KCNAB1, a potassium channel regulatory subunit involved in cell signaling and neuronal excitability. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the KCNAB1 protein, this antibody permits the detection and analysis of KCNAB1 in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in neuroscience and ion channel research.
KCNAB1, also known as Kvβ1, modulates the activity of voltage-gated potassium channels, influencing neuronal function and electrical signaling. Dysregulation of KCNAB1 has been linked to neurological disorders such as epilepsy and Parkinson's disease, highlighting its importance in brain function and disease pathology. Research on KCNAB1 is crucial for understanding the mechanisms underlying these conditions and may lead to the development of novel therapeutic approaches targeting potassium channel function.

Potassium channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. This member includes distinct isoforms which are encoded by alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene. Some of these isoforms are beta subunits, which form heteromultimeric complexes with alpha subunits and modulate the activity of the pore-forming alpha subunits.
