The IL18RAP Polyclonal Antibody (PACO15186) is a crucial tool for researchers studying IL18RAP, a receptor protein involved in the regulation of immune responses. This antibody, derived from rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is optimized for use in Western blot experiments. By targeting the IL18RAP protein, this antibody facilitates thorough analysis and detection across various cell types, making it an indispensable asset for studies in the fields of immunology and cancer research.IL18RAP, also known as IL-18 receptor accessory protein, plays a pivotal role in fine-tuning immune reactions by modulating the activity of cytokine IL-18.
Its involvement in immune signaling pathways renders it a promising target for investigating diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory conditions. By delving into the functions of IL18RAP, researchers can uncover novel insights that could pave the way for novel therapeutic interventions aimed at manipulating immune responses in disease settings.

Background:
Interleukin 18 receptor accessory protein, also known as IL18RAP and CDw218b (cluster of differentiationw218b), is a human gene. The protein encoded by this gene is an accessory subunit of the heterodimeric receptor for IL18. This protein enhances the IL18 binding activity of IL18R1 (IL1RRP), a ligand binding subunit of IL18 receptor. The coexpression of IL18R1 and this protein is required for the activation of NF- κ B and MAPK8 (JNK) in response to IL18.
Synonyms:
Interleukin 18 receptor accessory protein
UniProt Protein Function:
IL18RAP: Required for the high affinity binding of interleukin 18 (IL-18) to its receptor complex. Together with IL18R1 mediates IL-18-dependent activation of NF-kappa-B and JNK. Belongs to the interleukin-1 receptor family.Protein type: Cell surface; Membrane protein, integralChromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q12Cellular Component: integral to membraneMolecular Function: receptor activityBiological Process: cell surface receptor linked signal transduction; immune response; inflammatory response

NCBI Summary:
The protein encoded by this gene is an accessory subunit of the heterodimeric receptor for interleukin 18 (IL18), a proinflammatory cytokine involved in inducing cell-mediated immunity. This protein enhances the IL18-binding activity of the IL18 receptor and plays a role in signaling by IL18. Mutations in this gene are associated with Crohn's disease and inflammatory bowel disease, and susceptibility to celiac disease and leprosy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but their full-length nature is not known. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2014]
