The IFNA2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB17316) is a valuable tool for researchers studying IFNA2, a type I interferon involved in antiviral immune responses. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity for detecting IFNA2 in human samples, making it ideal for use in various research applications such as Western blotting.IFNA2, also known as Interferon Alpha 2, plays a crucial role in the immune response to viral infections by activating antiviral genes and promoting immune cell activity. Its function in antiviral defense makes it a key target for investigations into immune system function and viral pathogenesis.
By utilizing the IFNA2 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can accurately detect and quantify IFNA2 levels in different cell types, providing insights into the mechanisms underlying antiviral immunity. Furthermore, this antibody's reliability and specificity make it a valuable tool for exploring the potential therapeutic applications of IFNA2 in the treatment of viral infections and related diseases.

This gene is a member of the alpha interferon gene cluster on chromosome 9. The encoded cytokine is a member of the type I interferon family that is produced in response to viral infection as a key part of the innate immune response with potent antiviral, antiproliferative and immunomodulatory properties. This cytokine, like other type I interferons, binds a plasma membrane receptor made of IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 that is ubiquitously expressed, and thus is able to act on virtually all body cells. The encoded protein is effective in reducing the symptoms and duration of the common cold and in treating many types of cancer, including some hematological malignancies and solid tumors. A deficiency of type I interferon in the blood is thought to be a hallmark of severe COVID-19 and may provide a rationale for a combined therapeutic approach.
